Happy Birthday Anthony Hopkins

And this ends 2 straight years of the drawing-a-day task, burden, headache, etc. I've thrown around a few ideas for a drawing-a-day in 2010, but I'm thinking of being done. 2 years is enough, and although everything seems to work best in 3's, I'm leaning toward putting more of that time and energy into painting, simply because I would like to get better at painting. A full year of celebrity drawings has made for a pretty nice savings account of ideas for paintings and I can't wait to get started.

I still plan to fill several sketchbooks and draw as much as possible, but it's time to take a break from doing something with a theme and posting it here every day. The daily posts were a huge help in making me follow through with the drawing-a-day project, but it also became somewhat of a distraction at times, taking time away from doing real, finished portfolio work. Besides, whatever personal project/challenge I might come up with will probably just get stolen and used as a daily challenge on some caricature club forum again.

Anyway, Happy New Year to all, and good riddance to another decade! It may have been the last full decade this miserable world will ever see, but I hope 2010 brings you the best. See you in hell!

Happy Birthday Tiger Woods

Now here's someone I haven't heard about in a while. What ever happened to this guy?

Brad Childress

Not a birthday drawing here, and it might seem like blasphemy making this post right after drawing a Packers legend, but between all the buzz around his recent (and overplayed) sideline spat with Brett Favre, I felt it was time to draw Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress.

On a technical note, I could have made his ear much bigger. I stare at it and see how I should have made it stick out a bit more. Oh well, there's always next time.

See Brad Childress live, buy Minnesota Vikings Tickets from local ticket company Ticket King. Cheap Vikings Tickets including Vikings Playoff Tickets. Be there! Vikings Tickets with no hidden fees including local FREE pick-up near the Metrodome Minneapolis.

Happy Birthday Eugene Levy

Not the best I could have done, but also not the worst.

Happy Birthday Bill Hicks

I'll admit that I didn't know anything about him when he was in his prime, but I have now seen and heard enough to know what a waste it was to lose him 15 years ago when he was only 32. We could really use him right now.

Here's a nice little passionate meltdown as he deals with a heckler. This pre-dates the Michael Richards incident at the Laugh Factory by several years. And although Hicks never uses any racial slurs, this to me is far more terrifying than anything I saw in the Richards meltdown. And way funnier.
*CAUTION: Contains extreme potty-mouth.

And another goody:

Happy Birthday Aaron Rodgers

What a man looks like. Yet another person younger, wealthier and way cooler than me. Any non-Packers fans (and probably some Packers fans, too) can go ahead and make fun of his 44 sacks this season, but he is still ranked the 3rd best quarterback in the NFL right now. And the offense has finally been doing a significantly better job in protecting him in their last few games. If they keep this up, all you playoff contenders better watch your backs.

And just for fun, here's a real ballsy (and awesome) play they made in the season opener against the Bears, with a little more than a minute left of the game. I was at this game and have to admit that it got a little boring at times (just look at what the score was so late in the game), but this play made those 3 hours worth the wait.
