Happy Birthday Garrison Keillor (8-07-09)
When A Prairie Home Companion came to my hometown last Spring, my stepmother Maureen was lucky enough to be selected to appear on the show. I have to say she did a great job of describing our town in a way that was perfect and fitting for the format of the show. Hear it here.
On a sidenote, this man has way too much going on with his features, and I'm afraid I didn't explore them enough. I was trying to keep "human pug with a mesmerizing voice" in mind, but I really need to push it more next time.

Happy Birthday Harrison Ford
I don't know, I think I may have missed this one. He's actually pretty tough to draw.
I like this one better from last year. This was drawn for Rich Ostrom's review of the Blade Runner Final Cut DVD for The Scene, which happened to be just days away from the release of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It's an old person joke, get it? I thought it was interesting and funny that when the last Indiana Jones film came out, DVDs did not yet exist.

Happy Birthday Michael Eisner (3-7-09)
I wasn't trying to be an overachiever by drawing 2 in one day. For whatever reason I was convinced that his birthday was on 3-08, until I looked it up later on to double check his age.
That's supposed to be Walt Disney on the toilet paper. I don't think I'm capable of getting a likeness in such tiny dimensions. It's stupid juvenile humor anyway.
Happy Birthday Tammy Faye (3-07-09)
I remember seeing her 2 years ago on Larry King the day before she died from cancer, weighing only 65 pounds (and that was including the makeup). She said she was unable to eat solid food. Yet she still somehow managed to put on ALL of that makeup!
I was first exposed to the Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker story when I was in 1st grade. It was in my first copy of MAD Magazine, and I of course didn't understand the context of the joke until several years later.
It was a drawing (by Mort Drucker, I believe) of Jim Bakker in a hotel room in his underwear, grabbing for Jessica Hahn's ass as she was running from him, topless and covering herself. She says, "Jim Bakker, if we do this, I'll never be able to look your wife in the face again!" Bakker replies, "With the way she wears makeup, it's hard for anyone to look her in the face!"

Happy Birthday David Bowie (62), Stephen Hawking (67) and Elvis Presley (74)!!
I toyed with the idea of birthday cake sharing, balloons and hats, but I'm pretty sure this juxtaposition is interesting enough without the help of any gags.
I'm having a few issues with proportions and an over all claustrophobic feeling (mainly because I was trying to cram this on an 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper), but that can all be fixed if and when I turn this into a full blown painting (and I think I might like to).
