31 Days of Halloween: A Painting-a-day of Monsters and Stuff, DAY 31
DAY 31, about 4" x 14". Can't complain enough about how much I need a new scanner. Tried futzing around in Photoshop, but whatever. And that's all I'll say about the color.

31 Days of Halloween: A Painting-a-day of Monsters and Stuff, DAY 20

Not that anyone cares, but this post is a day late. Had it done and forgot to share.

31 Days of Halloween: A Painting-a-day of Monsters and Stuff, DAY 10
Can't say I'm too pleased with the way this one turned out, but here is Day 10 anyway. Acrylic on blotter paper, approximately 6" x 6"

31 Days of Halloween: A Painting-a-day of Monsters and Stuff, DAY 1
After drawing Elvis every day for a year in 2008 and a celebrity birthday drawing every day the following year, it was time to take a long (if not permanent) break from another personal project like that.
But lately I've grown tired of preaching to myself about how I need to paint more. So why not finally do so by getting into the spirit of Halloween? As was the case with the daily drawings for 2 years, I don't expect all of these to be winners, but the point is to get a better grasp and control of the medium.
So here is Day 1, done in acrylic on blotter paper, roughly 6" x 6".

Bob's Bug Boy
Still debating whether or not to do a series of these. It started with a "Wolf Boy" sketch last Fall, shortly followed by the "Creature Boy" painting seen below. Not sure what inspired the idea other than the fact that I was getting into the Halloween spirit and that I miss Big Boy and eat there when I can (which is pretty much once a year).
Both of these are acrylic on blotter paper, 8.5" x 11".

President Barack Obama
After all of this birth certificate nonsense started making headlines again, I was compelled to make a new and improved digital version of a theme park sample I drew 2 years ago. Mere hours after I finished this and shared it with the Facebook world, Obama made an announcement that pretty much "trumps" the whole birth certificate thing. Hah! Get it?! See what I did there?

CREATUREFACE!
It might be common knowledge by this point, but be sure to click on the image for a better view! This was derived from a page of sketchbook monsters I found from last summer. I thought it would be fun to "vector-ize" him, and I've been wanting for too long to get back into making monsters. They were always a nice break from making people.
I'm not entirely keen on the background. The idea is there, but I almost had a migraine futzing with variant after variant, until I called it quits. Fast decision-making has been a life-long battle for me.

CARE CENTER SLAUGHTERHOUSE!
This is probably the closest I will ever come to campaigning for someone's vote. Ben Martin, a buddy of mine who moved out to Los Angeles a couple years ago (where he belongs), has made a fake trailer for the Hobo with a Shotgun Trailer Contest, and is now in the Top 5. He missed some valuable voting time because his trailer made it in after someone else was disqualified. Why he didn't make the Top 5 in the first place is beyond me, but justice has been served.
So please take a moment to vote! It only takes one click. And watch the trailer, too! It will take an amazing 2 minutes and 11 seconds of your day. It will put a smile on your face, and you could probably use that.
ALSO...if you really like what you see and want to support him, don't hesitate to spread the word and get everyone you know to vote. I'm looking at you, Craig Zablo!
Follow Care Center Slaughterhouse on facebook here. Voting ends April 7th at 11:59 PM EST.

Amy Sedaris
Thought it was time to dig up some unfinished digital art, and finish it. Based on a character from one of my favorite defunct Comedy Central shows.

Prince
Started this one of Minneapolis' golden boy nearly a year ago, so it definitely qualifies for the ongoing series Better Late Than Never: Finishing Projects From The Back-burner. Finished it last week and forgot to share it here.
This is acrylic, 11" x 14". I won't bore you with all the pissing and moaning about how unhappy I was with the way some of the colors came out in the scan and how much time I spent trying to fix it in photoshop before giving up.
